One way you can support the Back to School Consortium is through donating your time. This event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and drive of volunteers. We encourage you to explore the many options available to perspective volunteers.

NOTE: Community Services Hours Accepted


Pre-Event Volunteer Options

Outreach
Ongoing
Help us advertise the event in the community. We would provide you with the posters and flyers, you would find a place in the community to post it.

Collect supplies
Ongoing
Go to donation drive locations in the community and pick up supply donations and deliver them to the Center for Human Services. Volunteer must have their own transportation.

Fundraising
Ongoing
Host an event or activity to raise funds to support the Back to School Consortium. Have a car wash, bake sale, garage sale on our behalf.

Packaging Socks & Underwear
Wednesdays 6:30pm – 8pm
Now through June 25th
Maximum of 10 volunteers a night

Sorting & Hanging Clothing Donations:
Beginning week of August 4th
Call the Back to School Info line 206-393-4916 to find out times for sorting and hanging summer donations.

Delivering Supplies to Ridgecrest
We are looking for volunteers with vans, trucks, energy & muscles to help us transport supplies from storage locations to Ridgecrest Elementary School
August 18th, 2008 1:00-3:00pm.

Volunteer at the Back to School Event
We are looking for adult volunteers to help during the event
August 23, 2008
12:30-3pm @ Ridgecrest Elementary School

What would I be doing as a volunteer?

  • Volunteers are needed to assist with registration with getting children’s clothing & shoe sizes, “shop” for families by getting their socks & underwear, and help with line control.
  • Volunteers are needed to distribute backpacks, books, fun and games.
**Shifts available for set up 10:00am-1:00pm

Volunteer at the WORKS Clothing Room
Pre event sorthing clothing:
    Wednesdays 1-5pm & 6:30-8:30pm
    Tuesay August 19th & Thursday August 21st 6:30-8:30pm

Set Up day of event
    Ridgecrest 10am-12pm
    The WORKS at North City 10am-12pm

We need high quality, clean, used children's & teen clothing!
You can drop off items at the times listed above.

What would I be doing as a volunteer?

  • Volunteers are needed to help sort & hang clothing donations, clean up and restock the store between sessions, crowd monitoring and safety.
